Andy Sachs

Andy Sachs is a recent graduate of Northwestern University with dreams of becoming a serious journalist. She moves to New York City and lands a job as the junior personal assistant to Miranda Priestly, the powerful and demanding editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. Despite having no interest in fashion and little knowledge of the industry, Andy takes the position as a stepping stone to a career in journalism. The job is notoriously grueling, and Andy must quickly adapt to survive in Miranda's high-pressure world. [edit]

Andy is ambitious, intelligent, and initially somewhat naive about the fashion world. She is empathetic and relationship-driven, often prioritizing harmony and supporting her colleagues. However, she can be self-righteous and dismissive of things she doesn't understand, particularly fashion. As she becomes more immersed in her job, she grows more competent and confident, but also struggles with the moral compromises required to succeed.
