Andrei Ursu

Andrei Ursu is a Romanian singer, dancer, and songwriter born on January 16, 1993, in Buzău. He first made his mark under the moniker Wrs, blending electropop with high-energy dance performance. Ursu gained international attention representing Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song "Llámame," which went Gold in both Romania and Spain.

Today, Ursu continues to evolve as an artist, releasing music under both his given name and the Wrs persona. His recent work includes the 2026 single "Povesti in doi," and he remains a prominent figure in the Romanian pop scene, known for his dynamic stage presence and genre-crossing appeal. [edit]

Andrei Ursu grew up in Buzău, a city in southeastern Romania, where his interest in performing arts took root. Before stepping into the spotlight as a vocalist, he trained as a dancer and spent years working as a backup dancer for various artists. This period honed his stagecraft and movement skills, which later became a hallmark of his performances.

Details about his schooling and early life remain private, but his dance background provided a foundation for his eventual transition into music. He adopted the stage name Wrs to explore a more electronic, experimental sound, distinguishing himself from conventional Romanian pop. His early singles under Wrs began to build a following, setting the stage for his later breakthrough. [edit]

Ursu's big break came when he was selected to represent Romania at Eurovision 2022. His entry "Llámame," performed in Spanish, finished 18th in the Grand Final but won over audiences and achieved Gold certification in both Romania and Spain. The exposure catapulted him onto the international stage.

After Eurovision, he continued releasing music, navigating between his Wrs alter ego and his solo identity. In February 2026, he competed in Selecția Națională with "All the Way," aiming for another Eurovision slot. On June 22, 2026, he released "Povesti in doi," a new single that reflects his growth as a songwriter. His catalog includes collaborations with producers from Global Records, and his YouTube channel has amassed over 100 million views. [edit]

Andrei Ursu is seen as a versatile, modern artist who refuses to be pigeonholed. His style blends streetwear with performance-ready attire, often featuring bold colors and futuristic elements during Wrs performances. He is portrayed as a bridge between the traditional Romanian music scene and the international electropop market. His social media voice is upbeat yet professional, sharing behind-the-scenes studio moments and tour life. [edit]

Andrei Ursu's fanbase, while lacking a formal name, is active and engaged, particularly around his Eurovision journey. Fans follow his dual-identity narrative closely, debating his future contest entries and streaming his music heavily. The community organizes organically on platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

His global recognition is tracked by authoritative metrics. As of the September 2026 rankings, Ursu is the 50th most famous person from Romania, holding steady from the previous cycle. This placement comes from the iFANN Global Fame Rankings, which measure worldwide attention across public signals. [edit]

Andrei Ursu's dance background is evident in his live shows, where choreography is as central as vocals. He maintains two distinct musical identities: Wrs for the more electronic, dance-heavy tracks, and Andrei Ursu for a more melodic approach. His Eurovision entry was in Spanish, showcasing his versatility beyond his native Romanian. He is sometimes confused with Gheorghe Ursu, a communist-era dissident, but they are unrelated. Fans often point to his 2022 Eurovision performance as a standout moment, praising its vibrant energy. [edit]

He appears to keep his family separate from his public persona, focusing media attention on his career. [edit]

iFANN's own editorial research places Andrei Ursu's net worth at approximately $1 million as of 2026. His income streams include music streaming royalties from platforms like Spotify and YouTube, which have generated over 100 million views, as well as performance fees from festivals and clubs across Europe. He also earns from limited local endorsements, though no major global deals have been confirmed.

Ursu operates with a lean management structure, likely retaining a larger share of profits than artists signed to major labels. His Eurovision exposure boosted his earning potential, and his continued releases and touring sustain his financial standing. [edit]

Andrei Ursu's primary recognition comes from commercial certifications rather than industry trophies. His single "Llámame" achieved Gold status in both Romania and Spain in 2022, a notable feat for a Romanian artist. He has not won major international awards, but his Eurovision participation brought significant acclaim. [edit]
