Anaïs Mitchell

Mitchell's achievements are rare in the theater world: she wrote the book, music, and lyrics for a musical that swept the Tonys and then translated that success into a Grammy-winning album. Her inclusion in the Time 100 in 2020 recognized her cultural impact beyond the stage. What makes her record special is the journey: a community theater experiment in Vermont evolving into a Broadway phenomenon. Mitchell's ability to bridge folk tradition and theatrical innovation has set a new standard for musical storytelling.
