She held the WBC and IBO titles from 2021 to 2025 before adding the WBO, IBF, and The Ring belts in 2022 to complete the set at 130 pounds. Known for her aggressive style and high knockout ratio, she transitioned to the lightweight division in 2026 under the MVP promotion.

The athlete known as "The Bomb" has built a reputation for resilience after facing significant controversy and public scrutiny during her career. Her journey from a small town in Ohio to the global stage involves overcoming early doubts about women in combat sports and navigating complex rivalries that have defined modern women's boxing. [edit]

Born in Fremont, Ohio, Alycia grew up in the nearby small town of Clyde where her family life centered around athletic achievement. Her father was a boxer and her mother ran track, creating a household environment where physical competition was the norm rather than the exception. This background sparked her interest in fighting at a very young age, with accounts placing her first gym visits around six or seven years old.

Training alongside her father became a daily ritual that shaped her foundation in the sport. Despite this early immersion, she faced societal pushback as a girl entering a male-dominated arena. Alycia frequently recalls being told that boxing "wasn't for girls," a message that served as fuel rather than a deterrent. She spent her formative years refining her skills in local gyms while balancing school and family obligations, slowly building the confidence needed to pursue the sport professionally.

Her path to the pros required patience and dedication. Before signing her first professional contract, she honed her craft through amateur bouts and rigorous training camps. The transition to the professional ranks in 2017 marked the end of her apprenticeship and the beginning of a career that would eventually see her hold multiple world championships simultaneously. [edit]

Alycia Baumgardner made her professional debut on March 4, 2017, starting a climb that would quickly place her among the elite in women's boxing. By 2021, she secured the WBC and IBO female super featherweight titles, establishing herself as a serious contender in the 130-pound division. Her momentum continued into 2022 when she added the WBO, IBF, and The Ring titles to her collection, becoming the undisputed champion at super featherweight.

A defining moment in her early reign came against Mikaela Mayer in October 2022. The split-decision victory in London solidified her status as a top-tier fighter and ignited a fierce rivalry that dominated headlines for months. However, her dominance was soon tested by external pressures. In 2023, an adverse doping finding regarding mesterolone cast a shadow over her career, leading to intense debate within the boxing community and forcing her to defend her record publicly.

By 2025, her tenure at super featherweight concluded as she vacated or lost recognition of the WBC and IBO belts while preparing for a move up in weight. Signing with Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) in 2026 signaled a new chapter focused on the lightweight division. In November 2026, she stepped into the ring against Elif Nur Turhan for a lightweight title, aiming to become a two-division champion. Her record stands at approximately 30 fights with a knockout rate near 39%, reflecting her power and aggression in the squared circle. [edit]
