    Overview

Two centuries after the events of the original film, a group of scientists at a secret facility in space clone Lieutenant Ellen Ripley. Their goal is to harvest the Xenomorph embryo from her womb and create a biological weapon capable of defending Earth. The result is a new Ripley who possesses the memories of her past life but lacks the emotional baggage, making her an unpredictable force. She teams up with a ragtag crew of smugglers and mercenaries to stop the creatures from reaching the planet below. Jean-Pierre Jeunet took the helm for this fourth installment, bringing his distinct visual style to the grimy corridors of the USM Auriga. Sigourney Weaver returns as the cloned Ripley, joined by Winona Ryder as Call, a mysterious android, and Ron Perlman as the tough mercenary Johner. The production carried a budget of $70 million and grossed over $162 million worldwide upon its release in November 1997. Critics and audiences found the tone more action-heavy and visually stylized than previous entries, resulting in a mixed reception that sits around a 6.1 rating on major databases. Despite the divided response, the film remains a notable chapter in the franchise's history.
