Alfredo Deluque

Deluque's most notable achievement is his long tenure in the Colombian Congress, serving from 2002 to 2022. He was a powerful figure in La Guajira, chairing important Senate commissions. However, his legacy is deeply controversial due to the Parapolitics scandal. He is one of the few politicians convicted and then acquitted in that scandal, a case that sparked debate about judicial standards in Colombia.
