Aleksander Wolszczan's discovery of the first confirmed exoplanets in 1992 is a landmark achievement in astronomy. It not only proved that planets exist beyond our solar system but also revealed that they can form around pulsars, a finding that surprised scientists and expanded the possibilities for planetary systems. His work has been recognized with some of the highest honors in science, including fellowships in the Polish Academy of Sciences and the American Astronomical Society. In 2025, an asteroid was named after him, a fitting tribute to a man who found worlds among the stars.
