Aldar Properties PJSC was founded in 2001 as a government-backed initiative to help diversify Abu Dhabi's economy beyond oil. Headquartered in the emirate's capital, the company has since grown into the UAE's leading real estate developer and manager, with a portfolio that spans residential, commercial, and entertainment projects. Majority owned by the Abu Dhabi government through Mubadala, the UAE sovereign wealth fund, Aldar's shares trade on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange under the ticker ALDAR.

The company's developments have shaped Abu Dhabi's modern skyline. Along the coast, Al Raha Beach and Al Raha Gardens offer a mix of residential and commercial spaces, while the Abu Dhabi Central Market (Souq) blends traditional market charm with contemporary retail. On Yas Island, Aldar built the Yas Marina Circuit, home to the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, along with Ferrari World theme park and the Yas Hotel, which is famously constructed over the race track. In recent years, Aldar has expanded its reach through new residential communities like The Canopies, which generated AED 1.5 billion in sales at launch, and through its subsidiary Aldar Estates, which provides real estate management services. The company's strong project backlog has helped it weather market uncertainty, including the impact of regional geopolitical tensions on new sales. In February 2026, Apollo invested an additional $1 billion in Aldar through subordinated hybrid notes, marking the region's largest corporate hybrid private placement and Apollo's fifth investment in the company.
