Alchemy of Souls

The fantasy drama Alchemy of Souls arrived on tvN in June 2022, delivering a high-stakes blend of martial arts and supernatural magic that quickly captured audience attention. Created by Hong Jeong-eun, Hong Mi-ran, and Park Joon-hwa, the series follows a powerful sorceress named Naksu who was once known as the woman with a trail of heads wherever she went. After committing forbidden soul-shifting magic, she flees into the body of a blind noblewoman named Mudeok. Her path crosses with Crown Prince Jang Uk, played by Lee Jae-wook, a man desperate to master the ancient arts despite his own physical limitations. Go Youn-jung delivers a dual performance as both the fierce assassin Naksu and her vessel Cho-young, while Minhyun joins the cast as the brooding Seo Yul. Running for three seasons across 32 episodes until January 2023, the show balances intimate character moments with large-scale action sequences. Critics and viewers alike praised the intricate world-building and the chemistry between the leads, earning it a solid 8.6 rating.[edit]
