Wicked Game

Chris Isaak released his third studio album, Heart Shaped World, in July 1989 through Reprise Records. The record features twelve tracks that blend country, rockabilly, and surf rock into a moody soundscape defined by twangy guitars and Isaak's breathy baritone vocals. Although the album initially struggled to find a commercial audience upon its release, it eventually achieved platinum status driven by the success of its lead single.

The track "Wicked Game" served as the defining moment for both the song and the artist. Released as a single in July 1989 without much fanfare, the song gained significant traction only after appearing in David Lynch's 1990 film Wild at Heart. By March 1991, the single climbed to number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped charts in Belgium. The accompanying music video, directed by Herb Ritts and shot in Hawaii with model Helena Christensen, won two MTV Video Music Awards for Best Male Video and Best Cinematography that same year. [edit]
