Supercut

Lorde's "Supercut" is a shimmering synth-pop track from her second album, Melodrama (2017). Co-written with Jack Antonoff, who also co-produced alongside Joel Little, Frank Dukes, Jean-Benoît Dunckel, and Malay, the song blends electropop, disco, and electronic textures with nods to dance, electro house, and new wave. The title references a term coined by Andy Baio for a compilation of short video clips, and the lyrics find Lorde sifting through joyful memories of a past relationship, ultimately realizing the illusion has faded. Critics praised the production, often comparing it to the work of Bruce Springsteen and Robyn.

The track appeared on the soundtrack for the 2019 Netflix film Someone Great and was featured in a reimagined Vevo series recorded at Electric Lady Studios.
