Slow Dancing with the Moon

Dolly Parton delivered her thirty-second solo studio album, Slow Dancing with the Moon, on February 23, 1993. This collection blends traditional country sounds with a polished production style that defined the era. The record features twelve tracks and showcases an impressive roster of guests including Collin Raye, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kathy Mattea, Tanya Tucker, Maura O'Connell, Billy Dean, Pam Tillis, Marty Stuart, and Billy Ray Cyrus. Parton wrote most of the material herself, though she also covered Jackie DeShannon's "Put a Little Love in Your Heart".

RCA Records released three singles from the project. "Romeo" climbed into the top 30, while "More Where That Came From" missed the top 40 and "Full Circle" failed to chart. Critics praised the effort despite the mixed single results. The album peaked at number four on the U.S. country albums chart and spent 35 weeks there. It also reached number 16 on the pop charts and earned a Platinum certification from the RIAA. Later releases included a re-recorded version of "What Will Baby Be", which originally appeared on a 1973 demo before hitting official stores in a 2009 box set. [edit]
