She Wolf

Shakira's eighth studio album, She Wolf (released in Spanish as Loba), marked a bold departure from her signature Latin pop and pop rock sound. Dropped on 9 October 2009 via Epic Records, the album dives headfirst into electropop, layered with folk and world music flourishes. As executive producers, Shakira and Amanda Ghost brought in a heavyweight roster including The Neptunes, John Hill, Wyclef Jean, Lukas Burton, Future Cut, Jerry Duplessis, and Timbaland. Over its 10 tracks, the album explores love and relationships through conversations Shakira had with her female friends, blending playful, danceable beats with introspective lyrics.

Commercially, She Wolf hit number one in Argentina, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, and Switzerland, and cracked the top five in Spain, Germany, and the UK. It debuted at number 15 on the Billboard 200. The album earned double platinum certifications in Colombia and Mexico, platinum in Brazil, Italy, and Spain, and gold in France and the UK. Global sales surpassed two million copies. Four singles supported the album: the title track "She Wolf" (and its Spanish version "Loba") became an international hit, followed by "Did It Again", "Give It Up to Me", and "Gypsy". Shakira promoted the album on The Sun Comes Out World Tour, which launched in late 2010 and also featured material from her next record, Sale el Sol.[edit]
