    About This Album

The dark atmosphere of Atlanta's trap scene deepened on October 2, 2020, when 21 Savage and Metro Boomin released Savage Mode II. This 21-track sequel to their 2016 EP arrived after a four-year silence, marked by a mysterious trailer narrated by Morgan Freeman that set a cinematic tone for the record. The album expands on the minimalist sound established in their first collaboration, layering somber melodies over heavy basslines while exploring themes of paranoia and the psychological weight of street life.

Guest appearances from Drake, Young Thug, Future, and The Weeknd populate the tracklist without diluting the duo's signature identity. Tracks like "Mr. Right Now" and "Runnin" showcase the seamless chemistry between rapper and producer, who handled almost all production duties together with help from Tay Keith and Southside. A chopped and screwed version directed by OG Ron C and Slim K followed in late October, offering a slowed-down reinterpretation of the original sessions.
