Nightride

Tinashe released Nightride on November 4, 2016, via RCA Records as a digital precursor to her third studio album. This eight-track project explores the darker, more intimate side of her artistry without featuring any guest verses, even dropping Young Thug from the version of "Party Favors." While tracks like "Company" and "Ride of Your Life" had already circulated, this collection stands alone as a distinct chapter focused on duality and variety. She paired the music with a short film of the same name to visually anchor these themes. The sound leans heavily into alternative R&B, utilizing sparse production and layered vocals to create an atmospheric, late-night vibe. Critics praised this moody aesthetic, noting how it served as the shadowy counterpart to the brighter Joyride. Billboard highlighted this contrast specifically when reviewing the release. Although the album peaked at number 89 on the US Billboard 200, its reception among year-end lists was strong enough to earn spots on publications like Rolling Stone, Fuse, and Uproxx.[edit]
