About This Album
Myles Smith pushed back the release of his debut album by one week after originally targeting June 12 for a June 19 launch on RCA Records. The Luton-born artist announced the project in March 2026, and this 15-track folk-pop collection serves as the culmination of his rise from viral sensation to major arena act. The record reworks earlier material like Stargazing and Nice to Meet You, which first appeared on his 2024 EP A Minute…, alongside Gold from the 2025 follow-up A Minute, a Moment…. Smith recorded the sessions at Abbey Road Studios in London and in Suffolk with a production team that included Peter Fenn, Gabe Simon, Will Bloomfield, Ammo, and Oscar Görres.
The album follows a three-part structure focusing on personal struggles labeled "Mess," love and vulnerability called "Heart," and family or self-acceptance titled "Life." Tracks like Sertraline explicitly address anxiety with help from Noah Kahan collaborator Gabe Simon, while Dublin Lights features uilleann pipes and was co-written with Ed Sheeran. Niall Horan appears on the track Drive Safe, adding to the diverse lineup of collaborators. By the time the album dropped, Smith's breakthrough single Stargazing had already surpassed 2 billion streams globally.
Critics reacted with a mix of praise and skepticism regarding the record's originality. Alexis Petridis of The Guardian awarded it two stars, calling the work faceless and formulaic, whereas Elise Ryan of SFGate gave it three and a half stars for its vulnerable songwriting. User reviews often noted strong influences from Mumford & Sons, Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran. To promote the record, Smith planned an arena tour across England and Ireland starting in November 2026, featuring stops in London, Manchester, Dublin, and Glasgow.
