About This Album
Kacey Musgraves steps away from traditional country structures on "Mexico Honey," the twelfth track from her seventh studio album Middle of Nowhere. Released May 1, 2026, via Lost Highway Records, this project blends her signature songwriting with Latin pop and Tejano textures. The track features a flirtatious narrative set against a laid-back groove that evokes the atmosphere of a border town.
Produced by Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk, the song highlights Musgraves' vocal versatility through a rap-like delivery that contrasts with the breezy rhythm. Lyrics explore themes of escape and longing within a romance south of the border, marking a distinct sonic shift for the artist while maintaining the emotional core found throughout the album.
