Mask Off

The track "Mask Off" arrived on February 16, 2017, serving as the second single from Future's fifth studio album FUTURE. Producers Metro Boomin crafted the beat using a distinctive flute sample lifted from Fredo's "Prison Song," creating a hypnotic loop that became the song's signature. The lyrics paint a picture of rising from street life to luxury while grappling with the heavy costs of fame and addiction.

Commercial success followed quickly. The song climbed to number five on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming one of the rapper's highest-charting hits at the time. Its impact extended beyond the charts, earning Diamond certification from the RIAA for moving over ten million units in the United States. A remix featuring Kendrick Lamar dropped in May 2017, adding further weight to the track's legacy. [edit]
