Heavy Serenade (EP)

On May 11, 2026, NMIXX dropped their fifth extended play Heavy Serenade through JYP Entertainment and Republic Records. This six-track project steers the group's signature "mixxpop" toward darker, more atmospheric textures while keeping their experimental spirit intact. Producer J.Y. Park oversaw the shift, guiding the members into complex arrangements that favor moodier vocal tones over pure high-energy output.

The title track serves as an electropop anchor with a slow-burning rhythm and trance elements, standing in stark contrast to the rapid-fire energy of songs like Midnight Echoes. Fans noticed the immediate depth in the lyrics, which tackle themes of emotional weight and resilience rather than just youthful exuberance. The release marked a clear evolution for the group, showing they could handle industrial pop sounds without sacrificing the catchiness that defined their earlier work. [edit]
