Estrus

Tove Lo released her sixth studio album Estrus on September 18, 2026, through her independent label Pretty Swede Records. The project marks a shift toward full creative autonomy as the Swedish pop star handled production duties herself. She stripped away the glossy polish of previous hits to deliver a grittier sound that blends intimate confessional lyrics with expansive electronic beats.

The record consists of 14 tracks exploring the raw realities of desire, attraction, and heartbreak. Critics described the sonic landscape as a hot mess offering cold comfort, highlighting the contrast between upbeat production and vulnerable subject matter regarding motherhood and relationship failures. Lo wrote much of the lyrical content during a period of isolation in a Swedish fishing village where she felt external advice was lacking. [edit]
