Blackpink returned in 2022 with Born Pink, their second full-length album and the follow-up to 2020's The Album. The sound here is often more energetic than on their previous work, incorporating elements from disco, bubblegum pop, and even stadium rock. Lyrically, the members explore themes of confidence, love, and navigating the complexities of fame.

Songs like the pre-release single "Pink Venom" and the follow-up "Shut Down" showcase this dynamic sound, both hitting number one on the Billboard Global 200 chart. The album also includes "Ready for Love," originally a collaboration tied to the game PUBG Mobile. Critics offered a range of opinions, with some praising the production and lyrical depth, while others felt it lacked significant musical evolution. Nevertheless, Born Pink achieved massive commercial success. It topped charts in South Korea and became the first album by a K-pop girl group to hit number one on both the US Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart, earning Blackpink two Guinness World Records.
