Blue Banisters

October 22, 2021 marked the arrival of Blue Banisters, Lana Del Rey's eighth studio album. This release followed her previous work by just seven months and signaled a deliberate shift toward raw, acoustic-driven arrangements. Produced in collaboration with Zachary Dawes, Drew Erickson, and Mike Dean, the record blends folk, indie rock, and hip-hop influences across sixteen tracks. The sound feels intimate and unpolished, stripping away the heavy orchestration of earlier discography to focus on guitar riffs and piano melodies.

Del Rey explores themes of love, fame, and domestic life with stark honesty throughout the project. Singles like "Text Book" address social unrest and personal history, while the title track reflects on everyday living. Critics noted how the artist embraced vulnerability without sacrificing her signature cinematic style. Interscope and Polydor Records handled the release, which peaked at number eight on the US Billboard 200 while hitting number one in Argentina and the Netherlands. [edit]
