Founded in 1956, Al-Taawoun FC represents Buraidah, the capital of the Qassim region, as a cornerstone of Saudi Arabian football. The club operates within the Saudi Pro League and serves as a primary sporting institution for northern Saudi Arabia. While official records cite 1956 as the founding year, some historical accounts suggest formal reorganization occurred slightly later, yet the team remains one of the oldest respected bodies in the area.

The squad plays its home matches at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium, a venue holding approximately 20,000 spectators. This ground is shared with fierce local rivals Al-Raed, setting the stage for the Qassim Derby, a match known for intense regional pride between Buraidah and Ha'il.
