Akuyaku Reijō no Naka no Hito

Makiburo crafted a fresh take on the isekai genre with Within the Villainess, originally posting the story on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in May 2020. Mai Murasaki provided the illustrations for the light novel series that Ichijinsha later picked up for their Novels imprint starting in February 2021. The narrative follows a protagonist who finds herself inside a game as the villainess, yet she refuses to follow the script of destruction or death. Instead of fighting fate, she chooses to live quietly and observe the world around her, subverting typical expectations for this character type. A manga adaptation by Nazuna Shiraume ran from November 2021 through May 2025 on Pixiv Comic under the Comic Lake brand. Fans can expect an anime television adaptation produced by Roll2 to premiere in 2027.[edit]
