Airbus Operations Limited

Airbus Operations Limited, formerly EADS UK, is the British subsidiary of Airbus SE responsible for the design and manufacture of wings for all Airbus commercial aircraft. The company's roots trace back to the transnational Airbus Industrie GIE consortium formed on December 18, 1970. In 2001, BAE Systems transferred its British aerospace facilities to the newly incorporated European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) in exchange for a 20% stake. EADS bought out BAE's minority stake in 2006, making EADS UK a wholly owned subsidiary. When EADS rebranded as Airbus Group in 2014 and later became Airbus SE in 2018, the UK subsidiary was renamed Airbus Operations Limited.

Approximately 13,000 people work across two main sites in Britain. Filton in Bristol handles engineering, design, research, and some manufacturing, while Broughton in North Wales focuses on major wing component production and final assembly. Airbus UK is responsible for the high-technology wings for every Airbus model, as well as overall design and supply of fuel systems and, for most models, landing gear. In a strategic move to secure its supply chain, Airbus recently acquired part of Spirit Aerosystems in Belfast, which manufactured wings for the A220. [edit]
