    About

AirBaltic took off on October 1, 1995, stepping in after the collapse of Latavio, Latvia's previous state airline. The government partnered with Baltic International Airlines, a Latvian-US joint venture, to create the new flag carrier. Today, the Latvian state owns 88.37% of the company, while Lufthansa Group holds a 10% stake. The airline is incorporated as AS Air Baltic Corporation.

From its main hub at Riga International Airport, AirBaltic flies to 89 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. It also operates secondary hubs in Tallinn, Vilnius, and Tampere, plus a seasonal base in Las Palmas launched in 2023. The fleet consists entirely of 55 Airbus A220 aircraft, a decision that has simplified maintenance and improved fuel efficiency. The airline has won the APEX Five Star Major Airline Award and Best Wi-Fi APEX Europe 2026.

AirBaltic offers four ticket types: Basic, Classic, Business, and Green, an eco-conscious fare. Its loyalty program, airBaltic Club, rewards frequent flyers. The carrier uses AI-powered dynamic pricing from PROS to optimize seat and ancillary revenue. Food and drinks are available for purchase onboard, and baggage policies cover personal items, cabin bags, checked luggage up to 23 kg, and special items like sports equipment and pets.
