Air France

Air France, legally Société Air France, S.A., serves as the flag carrier of France. Headquartered in Tremblay-en-France at the Roissypôle complex on the grounds of Charles de Gaulle Airport, the airline is a subsidiary of the Air France–KLM Group. It is a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance. In 2019, the airline carried 46.8 million passengers, offering scheduled passenger and cargo services to 201 destinations across 78 countries (93 including French overseas departments and territories). Its global hub is at Charles de Gaulle Airport, with additional operations at Orly Airport.

The airline traces its origins to the 1910s, officially forming on 30 August 1933 through the merger of five French airlines: Air Orient, Air Union, Société Générale de Transports Aériens (SGTA), CIDNA, and Aéropostale. During the Cold War, from 1950 to 1990, Air France was one of three major Allied scheduled airlines serving West Berlin's Tempelhof and Tegel airports. In 1990, it acquired a major holding in UTA, and in 1997 merged with domestic carrier Air Inter. The merger with KLM in 2003 created the Air France–KLM Group, one of the largest airline groups in the world by traffic.

Air France introduced the Airbus A380 in November 2009 on the Paris to New York route and began operating the Airbus A350-900 in 2019. The airline positions its onboard experience as Travel à la française, emphasizing French style, gastronomy, and hospitality. Its cabin classes include Economy, Premium Economy, Business, and La Première (First Class) on select long-haul routes. The Flying Blue frequent-flyer program is shared with KLM. [edit]
