    About

Air Busan launched operations on October 27, 2008, with flights between Busan and Gimpo. The airline started life as Busan International Airlines Company in August 2007, changing its name a few months later after Asiana Airlines and the city of Busan signed an investment agreement. By April 2008, the carrier had ordered its first five Boeing 737s and secured its regular air transportation license. Today, Air Busan operates a fleet of 20 Airbus narrowbodies from its main base at Gimhae International Airport, with additional hubs at Gimpo and Jeju.

The airline has grown into South Korea's third-largest low-cost carrier. In 2018, it carried 4.5 million domestic passengers and 3.6 million international travelers. International traffic has more than doubled over three years, while domestic traffic rose 38%. This expansion tracks closely with Busan's development as a major travel hub. The carrier serves 35 destinations across Asia, with a heavy focus on Japan, China, and Southeast Asia. Its fleet includes five A320-232s, eight A321-231s, and eight newer A321-251NXs, reflecting a steady modernization push.

Air Busan holds a 4-Star Low-Cost Airline rating from Skytrax, a mark of quality in the budget segment. The buy-onboard menu leans Korean, with pre-order meals earning good reviews. Cabin staff are noted for efficiency and courtesy. The airline participates in Asiana Club, the parent company's frequent-flyer program, giving passengers access to a broader loyalty network.
