AI YoungBoy 2

Released on October 11, 2019, AI YoungBoy 2 arrived just three months after Kentrell Gaulden walked out of a Louisiana jail following a probation violation. The Baton Rouge rapper used this moment to drop his twelfth full-length project through his own imprint, Never Broke Again, in partnership with Atlantic Records. This mixtape served as the sequel to his 2017 self-titled debut and followed up the 2018 release Realer. Critics immediately noted how the album balanced aggressive storytelling with melodic introspection, capturing the raw emotion of an artist navigating intense legal turbulence.

The sonic landscape features heavy bass, rapid hi-hats, and moody synths crafted by producers like Mike WiLL Made-It, Buddah Bless, Wheezy, CashMoneyAP, Nick Mira, and jetsonmade. Guest appearances from labelmates NoCap and Quando Rondo added texture to the fifteen-track run. Three singles drove the commercial momentum: "Self Control", "Slime Mentality", and "Make No Sense". The project achieved a rare feat where sixteen tracks cracked the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously upon release. [edit]
