Afonso Bastardo Moreira entered the world on March 19, 2005, in Lamego, a historic city located in the Viseu District of northern Portugal. Growing up in this region, he developed an early fascination with soccer that would define his entire life. While many children played casually in local streets, Moreira approached the game with a singular focus that set him apart from his peers.

His family recognized his potential early on and supported his move to Lisbon to pursue serious training. At a young age, he joined the renowned Sporting CP academy, one of the most prestigious youth development systems in the world. The environment was intense and competitive, yet Moreira's technical skills and natural athleticism allowed him to distinguish himself quickly. Scouts from across Europe began taking notice of his performances during his teenage years, marking him as a prospect worth watching long before he stepped onto a professional pitch.

Before achieving international fame, Moreira honed his craft within the Portuguese youth system. He represented Portugal at the U19 and U21 levels, gaining valuable experience against top-tier opposition. His progression through Sporting's youth ranks was so rapid that he attracted attention from major clubs while still a teenager. This period of development laid the foundation for his future success, providing him with the discipline and tactical understanding required for the highest levels of the sport. [edit]

Upon arrival, he immediately made an impact by scoring in pre-season victories against Genk and Kickers Offenbach in July 2026.
