Adrian Lyne's films have been nominated for a total of 12 Academy Awards, including a Best Director nod for himself. His 1987 thriller Fatal Attraction was the second-highest-grossing film of that year and sparked national conversations about infidelity and mental health. Flashdance remains a cultural touchstone for its iconic soundtrack and montage sequences. Lyne's influence extends beyond cinema: Jacob's Ladder directly inspired the Silent Hill video game series, and his visual style has been widely imitated.

AwardsAdrian Lyne has received numerous nominations but won fewer individual awards. His short film The Table won a Silver Lion at Cannes Lions in 1976. He shared an MTV Video Music Award for Best Video from a Film for "Flashdance... What a Feeling" in 1984. While his films have won Oscars, Flashdance won Best Original Score and Best Original Song, those awards went to the composers, not Lyne as director.
