In just his sophomore college season, Mara led Michigan to a national championship and was recognized as the Big Ten's top defender. His 2.9 blocks per game led the conference, and his double-double averages (14.2 points, 10.1 rebounds) made him one of the most productive big men in the country. He is the first Spanish-born player to win an NCAA Division I men's basketball championship. His performance in the Final Four, where he recorded a triple-double (12 points, 14 rebounds, 10 blocks), was a historic feat, only the second triple-double in Final Four history. These achievements have positioned him as a top prospect for the 2026 NBA Draft.

AwardsMara won the NCAA National Championship with Michigan in 2025, was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and earned All-Big Ten First Team honors. He was also selected to the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team and the FIBA U18 European Championship All-Tournament Team in 2022.
