Abel Hernández

Abel Mathías Hernández Platero entered the world on August 8, 1990, in Pando, Uruguay. This forward now steers his career at Peñarol in the Uruguayan Primera División after a journey that took him across three continents. His path began locally with Central Español and Peñarol before he made a significant move to Italy. He spent five and a half seasons with Palermo, where he established himself as a dangerous attacker in Serie A. In September 2014, Hernández signed with Hull City for a club-record £10 million fee. He remained in England for four years before moving to CSKA Moscow. The Russian club released him in 2019, leading to a stint with Al Ahli in Qatar. After just one season there, he returned to South America, joining Internacional and later Fluminense in Brazil. His time abroad showcased his adaptability in different leagues while maintaining his reputation as a prolific goal scorer. On the international stage, Hernández earned his first cap in 2010. He represented Uruguay in multiple tournaments, most notably helping the national team secure victory at the 2011 Copa América. That tournament remains a highlight of his career, proving his value alongside some of the world's best players.
