The story flips the isekai genre on its head: instead of a hero transported to a fantasy world, the protagonist is a retired final boss named Lufas Maphaahl, who returns to a world that has moved on without her. She's not there to conquer or destroy, but to navigate a complex web of former allies, new threats, and the lingering consequences of her past actions. The series blends action, comedy, and political intrigue, offering a fresh take on the "overpowered protagonist" trope by focusing on the emotional weight of being a former villain.

Initially serialized on the user-generated novel site Shōsetsuka ni Narō from October 2015 to April 2019, the series gained enough popularity to be picked up by Earth Star Entertainment. The publisher released it under their Earth Star Novel imprint from February 2016 to April 2019, spanning multiple volumes. The popularity of the light novels led to a manga adaptation by Tsubasa Hazuki, which began serialization on the Comic Earth Star website in June 2017. An anime television series produced by Wao World aired from October to December 2025, with a second season already announced.
