Records
A. J. Hackett's greatest accolade is his role in creating an entire industry. He took a ritual from the South Pacific and turned it into a global adventure sport, opening the world's first commercial bungy site in 1988. His Eiffel Tower stunt in 1987 remains one of the most audacious publicity acts in sports history. The longevity of his Kawarau Bridge operation, nearly four decades and counting, speaks to his lasting impact. His ONZM honour in 2000 recognized these contributions, but his real legacy is the millions of people who have taken the leap at his sites.
