365 Days: This Day

When Laura survived that tunnel crash at the end of 365 Days, she thought the worst was behind her. She and Massimo get married in a white-drenched ceremony that looks straight out of a fairy tale. But the fairy tale cracks fast. Laura lost their baby in the accident and hasn't told Massimo. He slips back into possessive mode, locking her inside his estate while he runs mafia business. The passion that once felt dangerous now feels like a cage.

Director Barbara Białowąs and co-director Tomasz Mandes return to adapt Blanka Lipińska's second novel. Anna-Maria Sieklucka plays Laura with a visible weariness this time, a woman who chose this life and is starting to wonder if she made a mistake. Michele Morrone pulls double duty as both Massimo and his previously unknown twin brother Adriano, a twist that reshapes everything viewers thought they knew about the first film. Simone Susinna joins the cast as Nacho, the gardener with a secret.

The film premiered on Netflix on April 26, 2022, and was shot back-to-back with the third installment The Next 365 Days, which landed just four months later. Critics savaged it even more than the original, but the franchise's audience kept showing up. The movie runs 110 minutes and earned a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, with audiences giving it 24%. Laura Torricelli wakes up from a coma with Massimo by her bedside. The car crash that ended the first film nearly killed her, but she survived. Their wedding comes quickly after, a lavish affair where Laura wears a crown and Massimo looks at her like she's the only person in the room. But something is off. Laura tells her best friend Olga that she was pregnant when the crash happened. She lost the baby. She hasn't told Massimo.

The honeymoon phase doesn't last. Massimo returns to his old habits, keeping Laura confined to their sprawling estate while he handles mafia business. He tells himself it's for her safety. Laura feels it as imprisonment. She starts wandering the grounds, bored and lonely, and meets Nacho, the new gardener. He's warm, attentive, and nothing like Massimo. He listens to her. He doesn't give orders.

Massimo's ex-girlfriend Anna shows up with warnings and threats. She tells Laura that danger is coming, that people want Massimo dead. Laura doesn't know who to trust. Meanwhile, Massimo is dealing with a power struggle within his own family. His twin brother Adriano, a man Laura never knew existed, wants control of the Torricelli crime empire. Adriano has allied with Don Fernando Matos, Nacho's father and the head of a rival mafia family.

Nacho isn't just a gardener. He's Marcelo Matos, sent by his father to get close to Laura. But Nacho's feelings become real. He falls for her. Laura is torn between the familiar intensity of Massimo and the gentle affection Nacho offers. She starts sneaking out to meet him, riding horses along the beach, feeling free for the first time in months.

Massimo senses the distance growing. He tries to win Laura back with grand gestures, but his controlling nature keeps pushing her away. Laura discovers that Massimo had her followed. She feels betrayed. The marriage crumbles as both of them hold secrets. Laura hides her grief over the miscarriage. Massimo hides the extent of the danger closing in around them.

Adriano and Anna execute their plan. They kidnap Laura, using her as leverage to force Massimo to hand over the family business. Massimo refuses, knowing Adriano killed their father.
