1017 Records

1017 Records is an American hip-hop label founded by Gucci Mane in 2007, born from his departure from Mizay Entertainment and the dissolution of his earlier collective, So Icey. Originally called 1017 Brick Squad, the name references Gucci Mane's 2007 single 'Brick Squad' and his former prison inmate number (01017-052), as well as his childhood address on 1017 Forest Hill Road in Bessemer, Alabama. Over the years, the imprint has undergone several rebrandings, including So Icey Entertainment, 1017 Eskimo, and briefly GUWOP Enterprises, before settling on The New 1017 Records in 2019.

The label operates out of Atlanta, Georgia, with a lean executive team led by Gucci Mane as CEO. In 2019, following his release from federal prison, Gucci Mane relaunched the label and appointed Tiffany 'Tiff' London as President and General Manager, and DJ Holiday as Head of A&R. 1017 Records is known for its raw, street-oriented trap sound and has launched the careers of artists like Young Thug, Waka Flocka Flame, Pooh Shiesty, and OJ da Juiceman. The label's distribution partnerships include Warner Records for physical and streaming releases and Empire for digital distribution.

1017 Records has faced several controversies, including the departure of Waka Flocka Flame in 2012 amid legal disputes over royalties, and legal troubles for artists such as Pooh Shiesty and Foogiano, both sentenced to federal prison in the early 2020s. Despite these challenges, the label remains active, signing new artists like Lil Double 0 and releasing posthumous material for Big Scarr, who died in a car accident in 2022. Gucci Mane's 2024 album 'Breath of Fresh Air' debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 under the label.[edit]
