    Overview

Togashi runs without thinking while Komiya runs to survive. This manga by Uoto follows two boys whose lives intersect on a track field, turning a simple introduction to sprinting into a clash of natural talent and desperate effort. Originally released as a one-shot called 100'M on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket platform, the story expanded into five tankōbon volumes published between late 2018 and mid-2019 under the KC Deluxe imprint.

The series stands apart from typical sports manga by avoiding superhuman feats or team camaraderie tropes. Instead it focuses on internal monologues and the physical reality of pain during a race. Critics highlighted this grounded approach when discussing the subsequent anime adaptation, which used rotoscope animation to capture the visceral mechanics of running rather than stylized exaggeration.

A film directed by Kenji Iwaizawa brought the story to life in 2025. Produced by Rock 'n' Roll Mountain, the movie premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June before hitting Japanese theaters in September. Voice actors Tori Matsuzaka and Shota Sometani led the cast alongside Kenjiro Tsuda and Koki Uchiyama. GKIDS handled North American licensing while Sugoi Co managed Australian distribution, with the film streaming globally on Netflix starting New Year's Eve 2025.
