1 Thing

Amerie stepped into the spotlight with 1 Thing, a track that defined her career and reshaped the sound of mid-2000s R&B. Released in early 2005 as the lead single from her second album, Touch, the song blends contemporary R&B vocals with heavy go-go rhythms and funk influences. The production comes from Rich Harrison, who crafted a groove built around a prominent sample of The Meters' 1970 instrumental Oh, Calcutta!. This rhythmic foundation supports lyrics about an unnamed attraction that drives a relationship forward.[edit]
