Jacob's Ladder practical effects
by Capucine · old hollywood: Adrian Lyne
The terrifying head-shaking effects in JACOB'S LADDER were achieved without any computer-generated imagery. Director Adrian Lyne filmed actors moving their heads at a slow 4 frames per second, then played that footage back at the standard 24 frames per second to create the final visual distortion. This practical technique was used when the film first came out 36 years before this post.
