Klay Thompson Miami Heat press conference

    by Yutaofficial: Klay Thompson

Klay Thompson opened up about the support he got from Giannis Antetokounmpo and Erik Spoelstra after a major game, noting that playing alongside Giannis was a huge reason for joining the Miami Heat. He explained his main goal is helping Giannis win another championship and an MVP trophy, which aligns with how Spoelstra defined his role right at the start of the season: play hard-nosed defense, space the floor, and create room for the best players. Thompson felt he executed that assignment well tonight and plans to keep building on it. He also highlighted his patience during the contest, mentioning he avoided forcing bad shots even though he took one or two heat checks that all felt good. With his legs feeling solid underneath him, he sees this as something to definitely carry forward.

It's amazing to hear that from both coach and Giannis. I mean, it's a really huge reason why I'm here is to play with a talent like Giannis and help him hopefully do what he's done before. That's win a championship and an MVP trophy and spell define my role. Very clearly when the season started is to play hard nose defense and space the floor and give our best players room to operate. And I thought I did a good job of that tonight and something I'm definitely going to build on. And I'm just really happy with the patience I showed tonight. I didn't force any bad looks. Really, I might have taken part two heat checks, but they all felt good. And I all felt like my legs were underneath me and it's something I can build on.
