Julian Champagnie Spurs interview

    by Yetundejones: Julian Champagnie

Julian Champagnie insists the Spurs standard holds steady whether shots drop or not, defining it through intensity, defensive physicality, connectivity, and sticking to the game plan. Offensively, that means moving the ball effectively regardless of individual shot outcomes. He believes the team executed exactly what they were supposed to do and played how required after discussing this standard and intensity yesterday. The hope is simply to continue building off of it.

Yesterday talked about a standard and the intensity kind of being the first thing that came with that standard. I know it's a lot easier to come out with that intensity when the shot, when the ball is going through the hoop the way it is tonight, especially for you. But just your overall thoughts here on getting back to the kind of ball that you guys want to play this season. Yeah, I mean, I feel like whether the ball is going through the hoop or not, our standard stays the same on the way we play, especially defensively, physicality, being connected, knowing the game plan and stuff like that. And then offensively moving to basketball no matter who's making shots, who's not making shots and is doing stuff like that. So I think that we came out and we did exactly what we were supposed to do. We put how we're supposed to play and then, sorry. Hopefully we just continue to build off of it.
