Fahmi Syed on NIGHT, DUST and Apple shares
by Freddenver: Fahmi Syed
The part of Fahmi Syed's explanation that lands for me is the Apple comparison, because it makes the split obvious. You don't buy an iPhone or a MacBook with shares in the company. You use credit. The shares are an investment and they run on a different clock. In crypto, though, the same token you put money into is also the token you spend, and Fahmi points out what that does over time: if an iPhone cost you 10 Apple shares 10 years ago, that might have been $100, and with Apple shares through the roof you'd be paying thousands for a phone. So Midnight went back to basics. A token that lets people into the ecosystem and swings in price shouldn't be the gas fee. NIGHT is the token, DUST is the fee.
