Trump on pardons and the Biden years

by Not A Charm: Donald Trump

Oliver's write-up has Trump framing the Biden years as a legal gauntlet nobody innocent should have to run. Four years of it, he says, is very unfair. Asked about pardoning junior administration officials to keep them clear of congressional inquiries, he said the notion hadn't crossed his mind, though he'd be within his rights, and he pointed to Biden shielding plenty of people, Congress included, over what he called a fraudulent special committee. Margot, standing right there and described as very honest, came up as the kind of person he'd hate to see dragged into a grand jury. His line: innocent folks shouldn't be put through hell and stripped of everything they've got. The Washington Sun report is what put the question on the table. He'd know the feeling firsthand

Are you considering pardoning junior administration officials to shield them from congressional inquiries? Like who? There is a report by the Washington Sun this morning that the White House is kicking around a plan to shield junior administration officials. Well, I haven't thought of it, but I will tell you, it would be very unfair to go through what we went through for four years with the corrupt weaponization that took place. So in light of what Biden did, as you know, Biden shielded many people, including the Congress. If you look at what they did with Congress, when they set up the special committee, which was a fraud, they all got shielded. So certainly I haven't thought about it, but certainly I'd be allowed to. The presidential pardons are, they say, the most powerful thing a president has. I certainly don't want to see innocent people go through hell and lose all their money, like Margot. Lose all their money because if she becomes a target, you know she's a very honest person. But they're gonna drag her into a grand jury. She's standing right there. Margot, you're not gonna have to worry about it, okay?
