Why TikTok creators seem fake

    by Gigliola: Tech

Every clip on TikTok is basically an audition for the algorithm, and that's the whole problem. Your own followers won't even see a video unless it performs, so the follower count is close to meaningless. Which means the performing never stops, and that's why people come off as fake. They kind of have to be #Tech

I have hated TikTok from the moment that it launched because I saw what they were doing. They were tricking people that were hungry for attention and they were going to own it all. Like it's so hard to get someone off of TikTok and it has been the whole time. You know, that's a really, really, really, really, really, really solid point because that is a major part of the mechanism. Because if you following me doesn't mean anything, which it doesn't anymore, they push your messages based upon the content. then that means that i constantly have to perform yes in order to get any attention yeah you don't have because even your own followers if the video isn't good they won't see it so the algorithm is in complete control which if you're grinding from zero you look at that and you're like okay cool like that's a good thing and it definitely objectively probably leads to more content overall so they win but in terms of what the foundational relationship was of being a creator with an audience, it broke that entirely. You're constantly chasing. That's why everyone's fake as fuck because they kind of have to be.
