The Matrix guns to Dodge this scene

One of the most ridiculous action escalations in cinema history belongs to the Wachowskis, and it runs from "We're going to need guns. Lots of guns" all the way to "Dodge this" in The Matrix (1999). That's the whole arc. A request for an absurd amount of firepower, then a single flat line before the payoff. Hard to think of another movie that builds a sequence on that kind of jump and gets away with it.
