John Yoo, who once clerked for Justice Clarence Thomas, says Ilhan Omar's answer about a potential marriage to her brother has only deepened federal suspicion. He argues that if you are a citizen, you should be able to prove it and that the government's interest is explained by how she answered. When asked if someone was your brother, you wouldn't say not to my knowledge, you'd say yes or no. The origin of charges doesn't matter because the government obviously takes it seriously regardless of where the first referral came from. Federal agents spent between four and five hours inside Omar's Washington D.C. residence before removing over a dozen items. Omar has announced plans to move out of that residence. Her television appearance on FOX NEWS gets characterized as a public meltdown indicating fear.
