Lance Pugmire on Teofimo Lopez and Ryan Garcia

    by Yamanaka: Jack Catterall

Jack Catterall has already made his position clear on the situation, but journalist Lance Pugmire is speculating that financial incentives might still sway him to defer his title shot. The theory centers on whether a massive payday could convince Catterall to step aside for the TEOFIMO vs. RYAN GARCIA bout instead of taking his championship opportunity first. Pugmire suggests offering monetary compensation to wait for a future championship slot, though no final agreement has been reached regarding the matchup or Catterall's status yet. It really comes down to whether the money talks loud enough in Boxing to change the plan.

Go ahead, guys. There's two things in play that strike me, is that exactly what you said and the fact that it's connected to the WBA. The WBA of all the sanctioning bodies, I think, is usually the one that's most willing to sort of like turn a blind eye to what's right and appropriate. Secondly, Caterall saying that there's no amount of money. Well, you know, with so much money on the line for Lopez and Garcia, I'm certain that there will be a significant amount of money that can be put forth to calm him down for one more fight so T-Femo can take this fight that everyone wants to see before he gets to the next one. So those are those two things. And until those financials present themselves, let's just sit and watch.
