Trump defends Hubbard release strategy

President Trump just made it clear he isn't adding new sanctions against Putin while working to free Stephen Hubbard and end the war. He called out the people pushing for more pressure as foolish and ignorant of what happens next. If they had listened to those voices, Hubbard wouldn't be walking away right now, he would still be locked up for another twenty years. The retired Michigan teacher was facing prison on mercenary charges until this moment. Russia could have been playing a much bigger role with Iran and China if things went differently. Instead, Trump sent Witkoff to meet with Putin and pushed for peace rather than punishment. The hawks wanted sanctions but got a different path entirely. Hubbard is finally free because of the approach taken here. Maybe we should just let him cook without all the noise.
