Marques Brownlee iPhone Duo Review
by Silvestre: Marques Brownlee
Marques Brownlee has released his thoughts on the iPhone Duo, and while the device feels like a genuinely fun phone to use, it comes with caveats that define its current state. The hinge mechanism is incredible, the animations are awesome, and the polish around the edges hides a somewhat rough core that will occasionally feel heavy in your hand. The internal display is wonderful, yet most current iPhone owners should probably hold off on buying this new model since not all favorite apps will be updated out of the box. Brownlee notes that by the time the Duo arrives in a couple weeks or months, there should be way more optimized apps available, especially considering an iPad Mini with a similar pocket-sized form factor costs approximately $2000. This is undeniably a first-generation iteration where Apple's execution is admirable for what they have achieved so far. While the experience is polished, the core functionality remains a work in progress, meaning the reviewer is crossing their fingers that a second generation actually listens to some of that core feedback before anyone commits.
